Finished at Last

I am on a bit of a finishing UFOs blitz at the moment because I really want to start a new project with a gorgeous range of fabric that I have been adding to for about a year. But more on that later.
This week I have finished 2 . . Yes TWO quilts, this is the first. It is a block of the month quilt that was designed by a group of 12 Australian designers for a charity project called Quiltaid that supported World Vision for the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia.

The quilt is called the Bluebird of Hope. I was really drawn to its beautiful colours and the fact that it supported a very worthwhile charity. And, as I was at home for a lengthy period recovering from surgery it was lots of fun receiving parcels of lovely fabrics as I had opted for all 12 to be delivered at once.

The finishing touch was choosing a finishing from one of the 12 stores that supported the charity. That was fun too as it involved browsing the Internet from the comfort of my lounge.

So it’s taken me 3 years to finish completely, but here is the finished top. I made some minor alterations that mainly involved adding more embroidery.
